Latent Frames is made by Latent Snap LLC for iPhone and iPad, on iOS 26 or later. Its App Privacy label reads Data Not Collected. Email hello@latentsnap.com and say what kind of storage you use.

Where can my photos live?

Files on your iPhone or iPad, USB drives, SD cards and iCloud Drive; shared folders on a Windows PC, Mac or NAS (SMB); Synology NAS signed in to DSM; QNAP, TrueNAS, Unraid, Nextcloud and other WebDAV servers; Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, Cloudflare R2 and Wasabi buckets; Dropbox and OneDrive. Google Drive is coming.

How much does it cost?

Every feature is free for your first 30 days. After that, browsing and viewing stay free forever, and a one-time $30 purchase unlocks Similar, Compare, tags and moving photos for good. No subscription.

Does it upload or move my photos?

No. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is moved into a library. Your folders stay exactly as they are. The app only talks to the places you add and to your own iCloud.

Away from home?

Your NAS and computers need a VPN or an internet address. Cloud storage works anywhere with an internet connection.

Where are my tags saved?

Inside each photo as standard XMP, so digiKam, Immich and Lightroom can read them too. A photo that can't hold them gets an XMP file beside it.

What happens to deleted photos?

They go to the trash, with undo: your storage's own trash where it has one, otherwise a .latentframes folder inside your library, where you can restore them.

Can I review a big folder a bit at a time?

Yes. The Review tab deals a set, by date, name, size or random. Mark photos as reviewed and pick up where you left off.

Can I try it without connecting anything?

Yes. Sample photos are included in the app.

My NAS won't connect.

Email hello@latentsnap.com with the kind of storage (SMB, Synology, WebDAV, S3) and what the app said.

My photos are in Apple Photos.

That is Latent Photos, our sister app: it works with your Apple Photos library and turns tags into albums there. Pick the one that matches where your photos live, or use both.

Is it private?

No account, no servers of ours, no analytics. Photos are processed on your device. Details in the Frames privacy policy.
